Boerken
Boerken is a Belgian specialty beer of high fermentation with a solid alcohol percentage of 9.5%. It is brewed by Brasserie Caulier on behalf of Verstraeten H&S from Beveren (East Flanders). This characterful brown beer is sold in swing-top bottles of 33 cl, recognizable by the label with a farmer sitting on a milk stool – a nod to its rural roots.
The beer originates from ‘Den Ouden Advokaat’, who originally had it brewed. In 2013, the project was taken over by Verstraeten H&S, who continued and expanded the Boerken story.
In addition to Boerken, the same brewery also markets its sister beer Boerinneken. Both beers are now not only popular in Belgium and the Netherlands, but are also exported to Spain, where they are increasingly appealing to beer lovers.
