Lagerbeer

Pils is a light beer with an alcohol content of approximately 5%, which is characterized by its clarity, golden yellow color, white head and slightly bitter taste. It has a refreshing taste and is not too full and lively. Lager, also known as lager or bottom-fermented beer, is made from barley malt, hops, water, yeast and sometimes sugar.

The brewing process of lager is specific, as it takes place at low temperatures between 4 and 15 degrees Celsius. The yeast sinks to the bottom of the container. The beer matures for about 4 weeks in a cold room, in the past often in caves or deep cellars, but nowadays in special cooling tanks. The characteristic light to golden yellow color of pilsner comes from the use of pilsner malt as a base.

Lager is best enjoyed at a drinking temperature of approximately 4 degrees Celsius.

The origins of pilsner go back to 1842, when the German Joseff Groll was brought to Plzen, Czech Republic. In response to the wasting of seasonal beer production on the market square, Groll developed the first lager as a stable, clear and fresh alternative. The inhabitants of Plzen created nine kilometers of passages and caves under the brewery to provide the necessary cold for the fermentation and maturation process of the beer.
