Brasserie Et Distillerie Caulier
The history of Brasserie Caulier goes back to 1933, when Charles Caulier decided to leave his life as a miner behind and dedicate himself to the distribution of beer. What started as a small operation grew over generations into a full-fledged family brewery.
In 1980, his grandson Roger Caulier took over the helm. Fifteen years later, in 1995, he took a major step by starting his own brewery. Using brewing equipment from Haacht Brewery and the closed De Neve lambic brewery, he built a new brewery. The beers he created there were named Bon Secours, a reference to the pilgrimage site of Our Lady of Good Help.
However, the story also had setbacks: in 2007, the brewery was declared bankrupt. A revival soon followed, as in early 2008 Roger's sons revived the family tradition under the name Brasserie et Distillerie Caulier.
After this relaunch, the brewery once again made a name for itself with creative and distinctive beers. One of the most striking creations is Paix-Dieu, an abbey beer brewed according to a unique tradition only during the full moon – a symbol of craftsmanship and mysticism that gives the beer a special place in Belgian beer culture.
