Kasteelbrouwerij De Dool
In 1990, brewer's daughter Mieke Desplenter bought the dilapidated castle Den Dool. This water lock dates from the 16th century and was inhabited until 1977, after which it was left to rot. It was renovated for four years and a brewery was housed in one of the associated farm buildings.
Since 1994, Ter Dolen abbey beer has been brewed, which in April 2008 received the Recognized Belgian Abbey beer logo.
In 2011, the beer Armand was launched, named after Mieke's father, Armand Desplenter, brewing engineer and founder of the brewery.
