Brouwerij De Ryck

Brouwerij De Ryck was founded in 1886 by Gustaaf De Ryck under the name De Gouden Arend. He buys a farm in Herzele opposite the church and moves to the German Bremen to 'brauerei zum goldenen Adler' to learn the brewing trade. During the First World War, the brewery's activities ceased. In 1920, the brewery reopened under the name De Ryck Brewery.

Between 1938, the year in which Gustavus dies, and 1965, the stirring stick is passed on to his son Clément and his two sisters and then to the third generation, the cousins Gustav Jr. and Paul De Ryck

120 years later and 4 generations later, a family member is still at the brewing kettle. Granddaughter of the founder, An De Ryck, one of the few female brewers in Belgium.

Meanwhile, the 5th Generation, daughter Miek and son Bram, are also working in the brewery.
