Paulaner Brewery
The monks of the Order of the Minims, in German Paulaner. That is what the brewery owes its name to. The logo of the brewery features Franciscus van Paola, founder of the order.
The Paulaner started brewing bock beer in 1634, which was served in public on Francis's name day and gained great popularity.
The current Paulaner beer recipe is said to go back to brewmaster Valentin Stephan Still, known as “Brother Barnabas.”
