Brouwerij De Brabandere

Brewery De Brabandere was founded in 1894 by beer enthusiast Adolphe De Brabandere and his son Jozef. The brewery was then little more than a few copper kettles in the brewing room and a storage place for malt. The passionate Jozef ensures that the brewery expands rapidly in no time.

During the First World War he was forced to stop all activity, but afterwards the damage suffered was quickly repaired so he could get back to work.

After Jozef died in 1929, his widow kept the brewery running. She is subsequently succeeded by son Albert.

Originally, beer was only supplied to cafés and private individuals. Since 1975, the fourth generation has focused explicitly on the catering industry and export. They also profile themselves as a sponsor. For example, Petrus could be seen for years on the jerseys of the first division football club Zulte-Waregem.

The fifth generation took office in 2013 and serious investments were made to increase the capacity of the brewery.

Thanks to the hardworking and ambitious De Brabandere family, the brewery is still a family brewery today and one of the largest independent breweries in Belgium.
