Brasserie Des Carrières

The Brasserie des Carrières project was born from the shared passion of two friends for the products of their region, with a special focus on beer, a Belgian national specialty recognized worldwide. In June 2010, Julien Slabbinck and François Amorison decided to set up their own brewery in Basècles, their birthplace.

The former Amorison sawmill, located on rue de Condé, offered interesting possibilities, but required some adjustments and renovations. The goal was to produce craft beer with natural regional products. The barley, grown by Julien's father in the fields of the village just 1 km from the brewery, was converted into malt in the malting house of the castle, located 7 km from Basècles. The hops, grown just 300 meters from the brewery, came from Julien's cousin, Jeremy Leconte.

It took two years to acquire brewery equipment, often second-hand from various Belgian breweries that the two young entrepreneurs were happy to help, and to restore the site. Finally, in November 2012, the sweet smell of hops escaped from the brewery's chimney for the first time.
