Monasterio de San Pedro de Cardena
On March 16, 2016, the very first Spanish Trappist beer was introduced: Cardeña Tripel, produced by the Monasterio de San Pedro de Cardeña.
Since December 2014, this Trappist monastery has been a member of the "International Trappist Association".
The recipe was composed by Scottish brewmaster Bob Maltman, in collaboration with Belgian beer expert Erick Coene, under the supervision of the monks.
In 2016, the construction of a small brewery began within the monastery walls.
In 2021, the second Spanish Trappist beer was born: Cardeña Doble (Double).
