Brouwerij Kerkom-De Ranke
Kerkom Brewery was founded by Evarist Clerinx in 1878. He bought the old tavern "La Renaissance" in Kerkom on the road Sint-Truiden - Hannut - Namur and built a brewery in it.
During the First World War, the German occupiers claimed the brewery. In 1920, production was restarted, son Paul joined the brewery, who in turn took over the stirring stick in 1952. He was forced to close the brewery in 1968 and started working for his competitor Alken.
Bitten by the brewing bug, Jean founded the current brewery in 1988 after his retirement until he sold the brewery to Marc Limet in 1999.
Together with his wife Marina, Marc continues to expand the brewery, but the old brewing installation becomes a problem and is taken out of service in 2009. They invest in a second-hand installation from Austria, but cannot get started. They have to rely on other breweries, resulting in varying quality and the corona pandemic is making it really difficult for them.
In 2022, the De Ranke brewery will take over Kerkom and the beers will be brewed at De Ranke.
