Brouwerij Het Nest

In the year 2000, a private beer tasting club started called "the Order of the Zatte Sparrow" with the logo of two sparrows with a beer in their nest. As they tasted more beers, their interest in beer grew and the idea arose to start brewing themselves.

In 2006, some members took a beer brewing course and bought a small installation. They started brewing amateur beers and took third place at a brewing championship.

This success led to the launch of their first beer, the "Festivaltripel," which was later renamed "Schuppenboer." Because of their origins from the Turnhout region, they chose a link with playing cards, which led to recognisability and popularity. Due to the growing demand, they soon had to move to larger breweries, including 't Hofbrouwerijke and later the Scheldebrouwerij.

They continued to develop new beers, one of which was "Hertenheer." An extra bitter beer that was made to the taste of the brewmasters.

After the introduction of the Schuppenboer and Hertenheer, the Schuppenaas, the Kleveretienen and finally the Koekendam followed. With these beers, their ambition to launch a series of beers on the market, called the "Grote Straat," was realized.

Het Nest's beers were well received everywhere and won several national and international awards.

To meet the growing demand, they built a brand new and ultra-modern brewery in the Beyntel industrial zone, on the border of Turnhout and Oud-Turnhout, in 2015.
