Brouwerij Belgica

Brouwerij Belgica was founded by Huub van Dyck, a passionate beer connoisseur, zythologist and beer sommelier. His beers, brewed according to his own recipe, are produced at Brouwerij Ter Dolen.

Huub van Dyck, born in 1955 in Made, is a man with two great passions: beer and cycling.

Huub is not your average enthusiast. He is a trained zythologist and beer sommelier, specialized in combining beer and gastronomy. In 2011 he obtained his diploma in Hasselt, recognized by both the Belgian Brewers (CBB) and the Higher Institute for Beer and Gastronomy. Since then he has continued to train, among other things in artisanal brewing and marketing beer. He took lessons from famous people such as Hildegard van Ostaden (Urthel) and works closely with Mieke Desplenter of Brouwerij Ter Dolen.

For Huub, beer is a culinary adventure. He believes that beer offers more possibilities at the table than wine. At tastings by Belgica.nl, visitors are often surprised by how well beer goes with refined dishes. Many people only know pilsner, but discover with him how rich and versatile beer can be.

Since 1999, Huub has grown from a passionate enthusiast to a recognized specialist. His advice?
