3 Fonteinen Dornfelder Grape/Kriek is a beer resulting from the successive maceration of grapes and cherries (sour cherries) on lambic. Like other beers from 3 Fonteinen, this beer contains only natural fruit, without the addition of syrups, sugars or other flavor enhancers. The beer is unfiltered and unpasteurized, which preserves the authentic flavors.

In the specific Dornfelder/Kriek blend, a ratio of 22% cherries and 78% grapes is used, whereby the cherries and grapes have macerated for an average of almost six months. For this maceration, only lambic from two- and three-year-old barrels was used, without backblending (the addition of younger lambic to soften the blend). The lambic in this blend comes from three different barrels and comes from thirteen different brews, which contributes to the complexity of the beer. The average age of the lambic in this blend is 20 months.

What makes this beer extra special is the high fruit content: no less than 486 grams of fruit per liter of finished fruit lambic. This creates an intense fruity taste, in combination with the characteristic acidity of the lambic. The result is a complex, layered and refreshing beer that perfectly balances rich fruitiness and the depth of ripe lambic.
