3 Fonteinen ZYF2 Blend 49 17/18 is a unique blend, created after the brewers purchased a second set of 21 Oloroso and 7 Pedro Ximénez barrels in early 2017. They allowed young lambic to mature in this for a year. Of the original barrels, four were lost along the way, after which the brewers used twelve barrels for this blend and twelve for the next batch (Blend 50). The lambic in this blend has an average age of over 2.5 years at release, without backblending.

This 100% 3 Fonteinen brew pays tribute to spontaneous fermentation and authentic maturation in more than forty-year-old Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The Zenne y Frontera series, a creation of Armand Debelder and maître-sommelier Andy De Brouwer, represents a perfect symbiosis of idiosyncratic characters, wild ideas and refined aromas. It connects the rich traditions of both the Senne Valley and the Jerez region, resulting in a profound, natural millésime beer.
